An old Chinese map has been discovered indicating not only Dokdo but also Daemado (Tsushima Island) was the territory of Joseon.

독도뿐만 아니라 쓰시마 섬이 조선의 땅임을 보여주는 중국의 고지도가 발견됐다.

On March 16, a professor of the Pusan University of Foreign Studies, Kim Moon-gil, revealed the “Joseonpaldochongdo” on the fourth and fifth pages of the “Joseonbu,” a personal journal made by an envoy of the Ming Dynasty, Dongwol, in 1488, who surveyed Joseon at the command of the Emperor (Emperor Yeongjong).

부산외국어대 김문길(일본어과) 교수는 1488년 당시 명나라 사신 동월이 황제(영종)의 명을 받아 조선 땅을 둘러본 뒤 작성한 견문록인 조선부의 4, 5페이지에 나와 있는 조선팔도총도(사진)를 16일 공개했다.

The map specifies in detail Tsushima Island, along with Dokdo (Usando at the time) and Ulleungdo, as part of Joseon’s territory.

이 지도에는 울릉도와 독도(당시 우산도)뿐만 아니라 쓰시마 섬이 조선의 영토로 자세히 표기돼 있다.

The “Joseonbu” that Professor Kim found in archives of a Japanese University turned out to be a copybook that Japan made by adding Japanese sounds to the Chinese characters in 1717.

김 교수가 최근 일본 모 대학의 고문서실에서 발견한 조선부는 1717년 일본이 한자에 일본 음을 달아 제작한 필사본으로 밝혀졌다.

Kim stated that he didn’t know why Japan claimed ownership of Dokdo even after an ancient document was discovered demonstrating Dokdo and even Tsushima Island were both Korean territory.

김 교수는 독도는 물론 쓰시마 섬까지 우리 땅이었다는 사실을 입증하는 고문서가 발견됐는데 일본은 도대체 무슨 생각으로 독도의 영유권을 주장하는지 모르겠다고 말했다.
