The bald eagle is a large, powerful, brown bird with a white head and
tail. The word "boald" does not mean that this bird has no feathers.
Instead, it comes from the old word which means "marked with white."
Bald eagles once lived in nearly every part of North America. But today
they are becoming very rare. There are many reasons that the bald
eagle is disappearing. These birds build their nests in trees. But the
trees have been cut down by people. The eagles feed on small
animals. But many of the small animals have been driven away by the
spread of civilization. The pollution of rivers has killed the fish thar the
eagles need for food. Eagles are sometimes shot by people who don't
realize that the birds are very important to the balance of nature. Finally,
the us of chemicals to kill insects has also indirectly poisined a great
number of eagles. It seems that if people aren;t more careful, the bald
eagle will soon be extinct.
you know what i mean.
