Hello! I am a baby elephant.

When I was only three days old, I began to walk.

I like to eat all kinds of plants.

I like to eat fruit and branches, too.

But I do not eat meat.

Let me show you how I eat.

I use my long trunk to pick up food.

I use my trunk to breathe and smell, too.

I use my turnk to spray water on my bady.

I can take a bath using my trunk!

"Splash!"

I use my turnk to throw dust all over my body.

Doesn't it look fun?

There is another kind of bath I like, too.

I like to take a mud bath.

Rolling in the mud is fun!

"Whee!"

Oh! It is so hot today.

I can flap my large ears to cool off my body.

"Ah!"

I also flap my ears to chase the flies away.

"Shoo!"

I can do so many things with my ears and turnk!

But, there is one thing I cannot do. Jump!

An elephant is the only mammal that

cannot jump. But that's okay.

I can walk faster than people!

Do you see my dad? He has something

I don't have yet. Look at his tusks!

I wish I had huge like my dad.

I think they look wonderful.

Dad says that someday I will have huge

tusks, too. But I will have to wait.

When I grow up, I will look just like him!
